6.
While the deuterium (D
2
) lamp is igniting and warming up, go
to the Display page and click on the Status-On and Data-Start
buttons.
7.
Next, check the remote input lines. If they are connected to
other equipment, activate them momentarily at the remote
equipment and note that their state on the Display page of the
diagnostics changes from
OFF
to
ON
. If they are not
connected, short them to their COM connectors momentarily
and note their status.
8.
Rotate the filter wheel out of position 1 and note that its status
on the Display page changes from
ON
to
OFF
. Put it back in
position 1.
9.
Check the remote output lines using the diagnostics Program.
If they are connected to remote equipment, activate them
momentarily and note the response at the remote equipment.
NOTE: ChromQuest software will not initiate an analysis if the filter
wheel is not in position 1.
10.
After both lamps have warmed up for 1 hour, perform a dark
current calibration and a wavelength calibration as specified in
Chapter 5. Use the wavelength calibration file appropriate for
your normal operation. Don’t forget to apply the results by
clicking on the Apply button.
11.
Turn the tungsten - halogen (W) lamp off.
12.
After the deuterium (D
2
) lamp has warmed up, go to the
Control page and set the mode to Intensity. Click on the
Default and Load To Detector buttons. This will allow you to
view the emission intensity spectrum of the deuterium (D
2
)
lamp. Set the individual channels to monitor pixels 35, 52
and 77.
13.
Go to the Display page and once again click on the Status-On
and Data-Start buttons. See Figure 4.2. Use the Print Screen
key to print out a copy of the intensity scan. This scan can be
kept to compare with future scans to see if there is any intensity
degradation. Date the printout and add it to your maintenance
records.
