Error Log Printout
The detector errors and major events, such as power-on self tests
(POSTs), are logged to a dedicated area in memory in the detector.
The log can hold 100 errors/events. When the log is full, the next
entry replaces the first entry. Therefore, it is recommended that you
print out the log and clear it periodically to keep a continuous record
for your maintenance files. The memory is protected by battery back-
up when the detector is turned off. Use the procedure in the
diagnostics discussion in Chapter 5. A list of error messages that may
be displayed in the Error Log printout along with suggested solutions
are compiled in the Log Entries section of Chapter 6.
Operation Verification
NOTE: To run the procedures in this section, be sure to have 100% HPLC-
grade water or methanol flowing through the cell at a constant flow rate of
1 ml/min.
The following operation verification procedure uses the UV6000LP
diagnostics suite described in Chapter 5 to verify the operation of the
detector. You should become familiar with the diagnostics portion of
the relevant software before attempting this verification. Because the
UV6000LP can be used with either ChromQuest or Atlas we have
included operation verification procedures for both software
platforms. The ChromQuest 4.1 version immediately follows this
paragraph. If you are using Atlas, proceed to page 4-9.
OPERATION
VERIFICATION USING
CHROMQUEST
Verify the operation of your UV6000LP detector from the
ChromQuest data system as follows:
1.
From the Instrument window, select Instrument Status from the
Control pull-down menu on the Menu bar.
2.
Click on the UV6000LP tab to display the UV6000LP
Instrument status dialog box.
3.
Open the diagnostics program by clicking on the right mouse
button and then selecting Diagnostics from the pop-up menu.
The Lamps page should appear.
4.
Check each lamps’ status and usage.
5.
If they are not already on, turn on both deuterium (D
2
) and
tungsten (W) lamps.
