2. Set up a new connection called UV6000LP by following the
instructions on the screen (Select NO if prompted to install a
modem.):
a.
In the Connection Description dialog box, enter
UV6000LP for Name, select an appropriate icon, and then
click OK.
b. In the Connect To dialog box, select the COM port to
which the UV6000 is connected. Then, click OK.
c. In the COM Properties dialog box, set the Bits per second
to 115,200, Data bits to 8, Parity to None, Stop bits to 1
and Flow control to None.
3. Initiate communication between the UV6000 detector and the
data system computer:
a.
Turn the UV6000 detector off. Wait 5 seconds and then
turn the detector back on. The connection should be live as
indicated in the bottom left corner.
b. Strike the < Enter > key on the computer keyboard three
times. You will see it echo back from the UV6000LP to the
computer monitor. (You will see a

symbol every time
you press Enter).
4. Initiate the download process:
a.
At the last
⇒
prompt, type the following download
command: do (for download).
b. Then press < Enter >. The system will echo back
information (a series of squares) from the UV6000LP.
Immediately proceed with the next step, otherwise an error
message will appear – “Download failed: communication
error”.
c. Immediately start downloading the firmware by choosing
Transfer, followed by Send File. The Send File dialog box
opens.
5. Send the file to the CPU of the UV6000 detector:
a.
In the Send File dialog box, browse to the PDA.COF file.
Normally it will be found in D:\CHROMQUEST where D:\
is the CD-ROM drive containing the ChromQuest
installation CD.
b. Select protocol X-modem. (Do not try Z-modem) Then,
click Send.
c. After a few seconds the file should start downloading. It
will require approximately six minutes to download the file
at the 115,200 data rate.
6. When the transfer is complete, save the UV6000LP session and
close HyperTerminal. Power OFF the UV6000LP and power it
back ON.
