Conditioning the EGC
1. Unscrew and remove the plug from the vent opening on the side of
Figure 94. EGC Vent Plug
2. Direct the yellow backpressure coil, which is connected to the EGC
OUTLET
port, to a waste container.
Note
: This can be a temporary
waste container, such as a beaker.
3. Turn on the pump.
4. Press the
EGC DEVICE SELECT
button on the Dionex RFC-30 front
panel to turn on the EGC.
5. Run the EGC at the initial flow rate and concentration settings
(1 mL/min at 50 mM) for 30 min.
6. Turn off the pump.
7. Remove the backpressure tubing from the waste container.
8.
Replace the vent plug in the EGC
.
9. Lift the EGC out of the holder, turn it over, and set it next to the
holder.
The EGC contains either KOH, a corrosive base, or MSA, a corrosive
acid. Wear protective eye wear and gloves when handling the EGC.
