ENABle register.
The ENABle register determines whether the EVENt bit affects
the summary bit (see below). Each bit of the EVENt register is ANDed (symbol
‘&’) with the associated ENABle bit. The events of all logical operations of this
register are ORed (symbol ‘+’) and passed on to the summary bit.
ENAB bit = 0: the associated EVENt bit does not affect the summary bit.
ENAB bit = 1: if the associated EVENt is “1”, the summary bit is also
set to “1”.
This register can be written and read by the user. Reading the register does not
change its contents.
Summary bit.
As stated above, the summary bit for each register is derived from
the EVENt and the ENABle registers. The result is entered into a bit of the
CONDition register of the next higher register.
The instrument automatically generates the summary bit for each register. An
event (for example, a missing input signal) may thus cause a service request
through all hierarchical levels.
