Provides uncalibrated sweep rates be
tween the calibrated settings selected
by the T IM E /D IV switch. The sweep
rate in each T IM E /D IV switch position
can be reduced to at least the sweep
rate of the next adjacent position to
provide continuously variable sweep
rates from 0.05 microsecond/division
( X I 0 MAG switch pulled out) to 1.25
seconds/division.

connected to the HORIZ IN connector
when the T IM E /D IV switch is set to
EXT HORIZ.

nal DC source. Indicator operable
but no charging is provided fo r bat
tery pack.
OPERATE INT BATT: Provides in
strument operation from internal
battery pack. Indicator operable
but battery pack cannot be charged
in this switch position.
OPERATE
115V
AC: Provides
in s tru m e n t o p e ra tio n from a
115-volt nominal AC line voltage
source. Indicator operable and a 30
milliampere trickle charge is applied
to battery pack.
C H A R G E BATT 115V AC: Used
when AC line voltage applied to in
strum ent is 115 volts nominal.
Charges internal battery pack at a
400 milliampere rate when POWER
switch is on. Indicator does not
operate in this switch position.
Blanking
Light: Indicates that POWER switch
is on and power is available. For the
OPERATE INT BATT position of
th e P ow er M ode sw itch, the
POWER light blinks to indicate that
the batteries are discharged too far
fo r continued operation.
Switch: Push-pull switch to control
power to the instrument.

General
The follow ing steps demonstrate the use o f the controls
and connectors of the Type 422. It is recommended that
this procedure be followed completely fo r fam iliarization
w ith this instrument.
Setup Information
1. Set the front-panel controls as follows:
Input connector fo r external blanking
signals.
Selects the operating power mode.
CHARGE BATT 230 V AC: Used
when AC line voltage applied to in
strum ent is 230 volts nominal.
Charges internal battery pack at a
400 milliampere rate when POWER
switch is on. Indicator does not
operate in this switch position.
OPERATE 230V AC: Provides instru
ment operation from a 230-volt
nominal AC line voltage source. In
dicator operable and a 30 m illi
ampere trickle charge is applied to
battery pack.
