8 Start-up and maintenance
of the laser source

8.1 Preparation of the operator fot the start-up
The preparations of the operator for the start-up are described in chapter 3 of the Integration instruc-
tions.
8.2 Start-up of the laser source with service personnel
8.2.1 Procedure
1. Observe the prescribed sequence. Possible malfunctions are to be remedied in accordance with
the User documentation before the next activities are carried out.
2. In the case of the occurrence of possibly dangerous conditions, the Emergency-Off switch has to
be actuated.
8.2.2 Point of departure
1. Supply unit in service position with open cover on the cooling side. Service key switch in position
“Service”.
2. Hood of the optical system open.
3. Key «Laser class» removed
8.2.3 Checking the main switch and emergency-off switch
1. Push emergency-off pushbutton and switch on the main switch. The cooling must not switch on.
2. Switch on the terminal, if it has a separate power supply.
3. Check the NOK message for emergency-off on the terminal and the two covers of the supply unit.
8.2.4 Switch on the cooling unit and check it
1. Release emergency-off pushbutton and switch on the cooling. Check cooling system for no leaks.
2. Main switch off, vent the cavity, main switch on and check the direction of flow of the cooling water
at the cavity by means of the air bubbles.
3. Check the level of the water reservoir.
4. Main switch off. Close the covers of the supply unit. Push the supply unit to its operating position.
8.2.5 Basic adjustment of the optical system KLS 246 and FLS
1. Transportation protection of the laser rod: Remove the sticker on the laser rod.
2. Prepare the optical components removed for transportation: Outlet mirror, end mirror, lens f=50 for
LLEK.
3. Carry out the basic adjustment of the optical system in accordance with the Service Manual.
