14.4 Connect the Earth Conductor
The control unit has a mains cable with a protective earth conductor. The earth conductor is con-
nected to the mattress base frame. After replacing the mains cable, this connection must be re-
established and an electrical protective earth conductor measurement must be carried out to test
its effectiveness.
Please note the following: The mattress frame is also earthed through connection to the mat-
tress base frame (A and B). The earth wire for the mattress frame must be detached when-
ever the mains power cable is replaced, and must therefore be reconnected afterwards.
Not all metal parts of the bed are earthed, as all electrical components always have double or
reinforced electrical insulation and all motors and operating devices operate with a non-
hazardous protective low voltage.
Proceed as follows:
1 Insert the protective earth conductor, serrated washers (serrations towards the mattress base
frame) and plain washer onto the threaded potential equalisation pin in the order shown.

Tighten the pin in the threaded sleeve (C) on the mattress base frame (torque: 1.5 Nm).
