8.2.1.1 Information on oil level
(input byte 0, bits 0-3)
The MQL systems can hold a lubricant sup-
ply of approx. 1.5 liters.
A fill level sensor monitors the lubricant level
and outputs graduated fill level information
via byte 0, bits 0-3. This information can be
used to, for example, generate a message to
refill the lubricant. In systems equipped with
a refill pump, the pump can be controlled
using the fill level information.
8.2.1.2 Information on lubricant low
(input byte 0, bit 4)
During operation, a flow sensor monitors
the lubricant flow to the aerosol nozzles. If
there is sufficient flow, this indicates that
aerosol is being generated.
The machine tool receives this information
in byte 0, bit 4.
The flow sensor operates calorimetrically,
and response may be delayed due to this
principle of operation.
It is recommended that the flow monitoring
be evaluated only in productive operation
when a program number that produces
aerosol has been selected, e.g., not during
tool change.
8.2.1.3 Information on inlet pressure
(input byte 0, bit 5)
The pressure sensor measures the inlet
pressure present on the MQL system when
the main air valve is opened.
By evaluating byte 0, bit 5, the machine tool
obtains information on whether there is suf-
ficient inlet pressure, i.e., >3.8 bar.
Querying byte 0, bit 5 can also check
whether the main air valve has opened after
switched on via bit 5 in output byte 0.
