12.2 Malfunctions and their resolution

Malfunction
Cause
Remedy
The system
does not
produce any
aerosol.
o Use of lubricants not approved by SKF
• Use only lubricants which have been approved by SKF.
o The system is not activated correctly by the machine tool’s
control unit.
• Check the connection plug and the signal cable. If this does not help,
please contact SKF’s service department.
o The system is defective or misadjusted.
• Contact SKF’s service department.
No aerosol
is reaching
the tool.
o The aerosol transport lines are bent, blocked, or have ex-
cessive changes in cross-sections.
• Observe the instructions for layout of aerosol lines in Chapter 4.2.3 of
the assembly instructions.
o A shutoff valve (if present) on the spindle inlet is not actu-
ated / is incorrectly actuated.
• Contact the manufacturer of the machine tool.
o A check valve is integrated in the spindle.
• Remove the check valve. Observe the notes in Chapter 6.5.1
o The existing spindle is unsuitable (e.g., rough transitions,
too narrow cross-section)
• Use only suitable spindles; contact the manufacturer of the machine
tool.
o The rotary leadthrough is unsuitable.
• Observe the instructions for layout of aerosol lines in Chapter 5.5.1.
o The transitions from the spindle to the toolholder are
unfavorable.
• Use only toolholders suitable for minimal quantity lubrication.
o The toolholder is leaky.
• Use only toolholders suitable for minimal quantity lubrication.
o The tool has an unsuitable lead-in and a very small cooling
duct.
• Use only tools suitable for minimal quantity lubrication.
o For small tools: inlet air pressure is too low.
• Increase inlet air pressure.
