3. Overview, functional description
3.4.2 Control unit
The MQL system is controlled and moni-
tored by an integrated control unit, whereas
each aerosol generator
is assigned its own control unit (UFD20 =
two control units).
The following are controlled:
○
The main air valve
○
The aerosol density
○
The aerosol flow rate
○
The required pressure differential in the
aerosol generator
○
An optional refill pump
○
An additional valve, if present, and a ball
valve to shut off the aerosol lines
The following are monitored:
○
The fill level in the lubricant reservoir
○
The inlet air pressure
○
The pressure differential between in-
let air pressure and internal reservoir
pressure
○
The lubricant flow
○
The runtime of an optional filling pump
○
The function of electrical sensors (the
aerosol density is not monitored)
○
The aerosol density values of the optional
AM1000 are transmitted by the control
unit to the machine tool’s control unit,
where they can be analyzed.
The MQL control unit can exchange data
with the machine tool’s control unit via a
FIELDBUS interface. Information on the
status of the MQL system is sent to the
machine tool in one direction. In the other
direction, all parameters required for control
of the lubrication process are sent to the
MQL control unit.
Depending on the system selected, the
data can be exchanged via a PROFIBUS or
PROFINET interface. All designs of the Digi-
talSuper systems require only one interface
connection.
