Adapting a project (Upgrading the project / Replacing the
SIMOTION controller)
5.3.1
Overview
Overview
The project needs to be adapted if you want to replace the type (e.g. D410 DP with
D410 PN) or version of the SIMOTION device in your existing project.
Procedure
The exact procedure for project adaptations depends on the scope of the target hardware
and version changes.
An overview of the various applications can be found in Service and maintenance in section
5.3.2
Creating backup copies (project/CF)
Prerequisite
Before adapting the project, it is essential that you create the following backup copies:
●
A backup copy of the project and
●
a backup copy of the CompactFlash Card contents, refer to Saving the CompactFlash
5.3.3
Backing up user data (backup variables)
Overview
With the SCOUT functions "Back up variables" and "Restore variables", you have the option
of backing up and restoring data that were changed during operation and only stored in the
runtime system. This is necessary if a SIMOTION platform is changed or a version
upgraded, for example.
The "Back up variables" function creates XML files which are stored in a folder of your
choice.
