Color correction
A process of color values to make them look more realistic. Color
correction is important because the colors you see on your monitor may not match those
you will see when the image is printed. For accurate color output, the monitor must be
calibrated to match the output of the printer you are using.
Colorize
Colorize can also be referred to as the tinting of images.
Compose
Creating a picture using photos, backgrounds, frames, text, or clip art.
Contrast
Contrast refers to the range of grey tones contained in a photo. A photo with
high contrast has more white and black (and less grey tones) while a low contrast photo
displays less variation. Sometimes this is described as “muddy” or flat. If the lightest and
darkest colors are close to each other, a photo may appear to have higher contrast than a
photo in which other tones separate the extreme colors.

Crop bars
The adjustable bars that can be moved horizontally and vertically to adjust (or
crop) the size of an image are known as crop bars.
Cross hair
Crosshairs are the target used to select the area you wish to work in. Place the
crosshairs on the desired region and click to zoom in.
Cursor
Any pointing device is known as a cursor. The Metacursors used in Soap 2, react
as you use them to provide additional feedback.
Digital camera
A digital camera is a device that stores images in the form of binary
numbers that can be used by a computer. Many digital cameras allow you do download
images directly to your computer.
Digital photo
A digital photo is either taken with a digital camera, or is a photo that has
been scanned into a computer and then modified.
Dots Per Inch (DPI)
A unit of measure used to describe the resolution of a printer or
scanner.
Drag and drop
Drag and drop means that you can drag items on the screen and drop them
in their destination location. For example, you can drag photos and drop them in the
Transporter.
Drawers
Drawers are repositories of tools. You can neaten your workspace by leaving
them closed most of the time, or relive your childhood and leave everyone open with
tools hanging out.
