Backup Device Menu
Figure 7.29 shows an example of the Backup Device menu.

The Backup Device menu is only used when the SRG-4500 is set to be the Backup unit in a Changeover pair.
Poll the Primary SPG on...
This menu line informs the user that these menu items relate to the Primary SRG-4500 of the Changeover pair.
IP Address, SubNet Mask
These menu lines allow the user to set the IP and SubNet Mask addresses for the Primary SRG-4500 of the
Changeover pair.
The options in all menu sub-fields “000” are: 000 through 255. The default is “000” (no action).
To change the settings
1. Press the rotary control to advance through each sub-field.
2. Rotate the rotary control to change the value of the currently selected sub-field.
Use repeating poll
This menu line allows the user to choose between automatic and manual polling of the primary SRG-4500 of the
Changeover pair.
When enabled (Yes is selected), automatic polling occurs every 10 seconds (by default) or a user set value (up to a
maximum of 240 seconds).
When No is selected, the user can effect a manual poll by moving the cursor to the line “Poll Now?” then press the
Rotary button once and rotate one click to effect the manual poll. Manually polling is useful:
• if you wish to maximize the isolation between the Primary and Backup SRG-4500s
• investigate menu settings and not impact the Primary SRG-4500
The Completed Backup Polls field is then incremented by one to indicate that the manual poll has been effected.
Poll is disabled
This menu line displays if the SRG-4500 is set as the Primary unit in a Changeover pair. It informs the user that the
SRG-4500 is the Primary unit of a Changeover pair, and consequently, polling (of the remote device) is disabled.
