b) Setting the tooth flank play for engine / main drive gear wheels
Regularly check the tooth flank play between engine motor
drive pinion and main drive pinion.
• For this, push a paper strip (80g/sheet) between the gear
wheels (figure 15).
• For correcting the tooth flank play, loosen the two fasten-
ing screws of the motor and adjust them as required.
The tooth flank play is set correctly when the paper strip
can be easily inserted and when turning results in a clearly
serrated strip coming out at the other end.
c) Setting the tooth belt tension
Regularly check the tooth belt leading to the tail rotor drive
for damage and proper tension.
You have achieved the right belt tension if you can press
one side of the drive belt (1) with a small screwdriver (2)
inwards (about 3mm) between the main gear wheel and the
front of the guide roller without using excessive force.
To adjust the belt tension, loosen the four fastening screws
at the tail boom (3) and push the rail boom pipe (4) back-
wards by approx. 1 mm.
For accurate settings, you may have to first assemble the
complete tail rotor drive again before adjusting the belt ten-
sion. Make sure you do not twist the tail boom.
