iSR6200 Command Line Interface (CLI)
User’s Guide
SCSI
Small computer system interface. A
high-speed interface used to connect
devices, such as hard drives, CD drives,
printers, and scanners, to a computer. The
SCSI can connect many devices using a
single controller. Each device is accessed
by an individual identification number on
the SCSI controller bus.
Secure SHell
See
SSH
.
SFP
Small form-factor pluggable. A transceiver
device, smaller than a GigaBit Interface
Converter, that plugs into the Fibre
Channel port.

SNMP
Simple network management protocol.
SNMP is a networking protocol that
enables you to monitor the router using
third-party applications that use SNMP.
SSH
Secure SHell. Communications tool that
provides secure and encrypted connec-
tions to traditionally non-encrypted
services.

.
target
The storage-device endpoint of a SCSI
session. Initiators request data from
targets. Targets are typically disk-drives,
tape-drives, or other media devices.
Typically a SCSI peripheral device is the
target but an adapter may, in some cases,
be a target. A target can contain many
LUNs.
A target is a device that responds to a
requested by an initiator (the host system).
Peripherals are targets, but for some
commands (for example, a SCSI COPY
command), the peripheral may act as an
initiator.
Telnet
Telecommunication network. A network
protocol used on the Internet or local area
network (LAN) connections. Telnet
provides access to a command line inter-
face (CLI) on a remote machine.
virtual logical area network

VLAN
Virtual logical area network (LAN). A group
of hosts with a common set of require-
ments that communicate as if they were
attached to the same wire, regardless of
their physical location. Although a VLAN
has the same attributes as a physical LAN,
it allows for end stations to be grouped
together even if they are not located on the
same LAN segment. VLANs enable
network reconfiguration through software,
instead of physically relocating devices.
