Port Traffic Controls
Overview
Overview
This chapter includes:
■
Rate-Limiting:
Enables a port to limit the amount of bandwidth a user
or device may utilize for traffic on the switch.
N o t e
In earlier releases, all traffic rate-limiting applied to inbound traffic only,
and was specified as a percentage of total bandwidth. Beginning with
software release K.12.
xx
or later, it is also possible to configure outbound
rate-limiting for all traffic on a port, and specify bandwidth usage in terms
of kilobits per second (kbps).
■
Guaranteed Minimum Bandwidth (GMB):
Provides a method for
ensuring that each of a port’s outbound queues has a specified minimum
consideration for sending traffic out on the link to another device.
■
Jumbo Frames:
Enables ports operating at 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps speeds to
accept inbound frames of up to 9220 bytes when configured for jumbo
traffic.
