Use to select the aspect ratio of the DVI output.

Direct
Aspect ratio can be selected from the following.
4:3 (Letter Box)
¶
Select when connecting to a conventional display. Video
software produced in widescreen dimensions will be
displayed in a Letter Box format (described below). This
setting is disabled when not supported by the disc being
played.
4:3 (Pan&Scan)
¶
Select when connecting to a conventional display. Video
software produced in widescreen dimensions will be
displayed in a pan-and-scan format. This setting is disa-
bled when not supported by the disc being played.
16:9 (Wide)
¶
Select when connecting to a widescreen (16:9) display.
16:9 (Compressed)
¶
Select if connecting to a display supporting progres-
sive-can with fixed aspect ratio. When playing video
software recorded in 4:3 aspect ratio on a display that
does not support 4:3, select this format, the original
4:3 image will be displayed in a narrow (16:9) aspect
ratio.

Use to select the image quality of the DVI output.

Direct
Image quality can be selected from the following:
Direct
¶
Image quality will be directly output as recorded on
the source software.
Natural
¶
The edges of the image are softened. Suitable for movie
playback.
Enhanced
¶
The color is enhanced and the edges of the image are
sharpened. Suitable for playback of computer graphics
(CG) images or animations.
Memory 1/Memory 2/Memory 3
¶
Allows selecting of image quality settings recorded in
Memory 1, 2 and 3 (settings can be made manually).
See page 52 for further information.
Important
¶
If a resolution setting is selected that is not supported by
your DVI display, the playback image may appear distorted,
or may not appear at all.
For details regarding resolutions supported by your DVI
display, consult the manufacturer of your DVI display.
Depending on the disc played, consult the following table when making settings.

Some displays may show different setting names than those shown in the following table.
* Some displays may be set as “Full/Squeeze”.

sible when connected to some HDMI devices.
