Glossary
Default Gateway
Default Gateway is a node on a com p ute r netwo r k that
se r ves as an access p oint to anothe r netwo r k. A default
gateway (such as a com p ute r and r oute r ) is used to
fo r wa r d all t r affic that is not add r essed to a station within
the local subnet.
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)
Server
A DHCP se r ve r is a se r ve r that allocates IP add r esses to
hosts (netwo r k devices). In most cases, a b r oadband
r oute r se r ves as a DHCP se r ve r in a home netwo r k.
DLNA
The DLNA autho r ized logo makes it easy fo r consume r s
to r ecognize pr oducts that meet the new standa r d fo r
home netwo r k PCs and othe r digital devices, as set down
in the DLNA Guidelines fo r inte r o p e r ability. This allows
music, video, etc. to be enjoyed f r om va r ious devices ove r

DNS
DNS is an abb r eviation fo r the Domain Name System,
which sto r es and associates many ty p es of info r mation
with domain names. Most im p o r tantly, DNS t r anslates
domain names (com p ute r hostnames o r sitenames,
such as www. p ionee r elect r onics.com) to IP add r esses
(such as 63.83.249.102).
Ethernet
A f r ame-based com p ute r netwo r king technology fo r local
a r ea netwo r ks (LANs). This p laye r su pp o r ts 100BASE-TX
and 10BASE-T.
FLAC
FLAC (F r ee Lossless Audio Codec) is an audio fo r mat
allows lossless codec. Audio is com pr essed in FLAC
