Connecting to a communications network
Use an ADPT-MR5-RS485 isolated communications adapter to interface an MR5 controller with a
BAS. The MR534AFDV controller models include the communications adapter.
The MR534AFDN controller models do not include the communications adapter; to add network
communications, purchase the adapter separately.
The MR5 controller with network communications is an application specific controller. It supports
connection to the following RS485, MS/TP BACnet communications networks:
• Standard BACnet network
• Verasys network
Use the external communications adapter to connect the controller to a Verasys system or a
standard BACnet system for remote monitoring and programmability within a BAS.

External communications adapter connection
The controller connects to the ADPT-MR5-RS485 Network Communications Adapter. The following
figure shows where the external communications adapter connects to the controller.
