Open the Windows network connections dialog for the PC (Fig. 16). Click on the LAN entry
and select Properties. (Note that the following figures show the network dialogs for
Windows XP. The screens for Windows 7 will be slightly different.)
Select the TCP/IP entry from the list of network protocols (Fig. 17) and select Properties.
Figure 18 shows the TCP/IP properties dialog. Select the Use the following IP address
option (i.e., the option that allows you to manually enter the IP address).
Set the first two bytes (dot address sections) of the IP address and the Subnet mask to the
values you recorded for the digiBASE-E; see the circled portions of Fig. 18. Click on OK.
Re-run the Ethernet Device Controller program. It should now locate the digiBASE-E and
display its serial number without generating errors.
