8.8. CLIMBING
•
Best climbing speed is 65kt (120 km/h).
•
If cylinder head temperature or oil temperature reaches maximum operating limit, you must reduce
engine power and climbing rate
•
Climb to altitude necessary for subsequent flight
Mandatory actions after take-off (height above terrain 150ft):

Flaps
→
retract
•
Auxiliary electric fuel pump
→
off
•
Check fuel pressure
•
Engine rpm
→
reduce to ca. 5 000rpm
•
Adjust the propeller pitch for 5 000rpm (cruise level)
8.9. CRUISE
•
Check that flaps have retracted
•
Trim aircraft to cruising speed
•
Airspeed 80-105 knots (150 – 200 km/h)

Instruments
→
check at normal operating values

Propeller
→
set to optimal rpm (manifold pressure)
The fuel consumption and remaining fuel on board should be monitored. Always make a comparison
between estimated and actual time above any waypoint.
Take care when selecting the flight path – avoid flying over large urban areas, large forests or large water
areas as well as over mountains. Landing possibilities are very limited in case of engine failure or other
emergency over those areas. Always have some suitable landing area within a gliding range. When it is
necessary to cross a large area not suitable for emergency landing, always climb to an appropriate
altitude to reach a suitable landing site should an emergency occur.
Always monitor the airspace around you to prevent a mid-air collision.
