7.11. STALL RECOVERY
M-8 EAGLE stall characteristics are conventional.
Aileron control response in a fully stalled condition is marginal. Large aileron deflections will aggravate a
near stalled condition and their use is not recommended to maintain lateral control. The rudder is
effective and should be used for maintaining lateral control in a stalled condition with the ailerons placed
in a neutral position.
To recover from a stall, proceed as follows:
•
Elevator
→
relax back pressure on control yoke.
•
Throttle
→
gradually increase power simultaneously with relaxation of back pressure on yoke.
•
Rudder
→
Use to maintain lateral control.
7.12. LOSS OF PRIMARY INSTRUMENTS
•
Autopilot
→
disengage
•
Circuit breakers
→
check – reset once
•
Main switch
→
cycle ON – OFF
•
Land as soon as practicable
7.13. LOSS OF FLIGHT CONTROLS
If loss of a control appears, e.g. due to jamming or disconnection, then some control might be still
possible. For all possible flight control failures:
•
ENSURE AUTOPILOT IS OFF and not causing a perceived control failure.
•
Change power setting only gradual.
•
Control the airplane by remaining means (see 7.13.1 – 7.13.3)
•
Activate ELT
•
Land as soon as possible. Use an approach airspeed that is higher than normal for safety.
WARNING!
DURING THE SPIN RECOVERY, THE AIRSPEED
WILL BUILD VERY RAPIDLY WITH A NOSE LOW
ATTITUDE.
DO NOT USE FULL OR ABRUPT ELEVATOR CONTROL MOVEMENTS.
WARNING!
PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION TO KEEP THE AIRSPEED WELL ABOVE STALL
WARNING!
DO NOT USE MAXIMUM ENGINE POWER WITHOUT RPM INDICATION!
