Additional Equipment
To install the Passport 5430, you might need items that are not part of the Passport
5430 accessory package. Before installing the Passport 5430 hardware, ensure
that you obtain all the cables, tools, and other equipment that you need.
Cables
Unless they were specifically ordered, the cables necessary for your network
configuration are not part of the Passport 5430 accessory package. If you do not
have the appropriate cables, contact your network administrator.
Management Console
You can attach a laptop PC or terminal as a console to the Passport 5430 to
monitor the results of startup diagnostics and to perform manual boot
configurations. Or you can install the optional V.34 console modem to allow
remote dial-in access to diagnostics and configuration.
Mounting Hardware
To mount the Passport 5430 in an equipment rack, you need a Phillips screwdriver
and an equipment rack that meets the following specifications:
•
Heavy-duty steel construction
•
Electronic Industries Association (EIA) standard hole-spacing
•
Width of 19 in. (48.26 cm)
•
Depth of 24 in. (60.96 cm)
If the rack does not have threaded rail holes, you must use cagenuts (see
) with the cagenut screws.
Note:
Before you turn on the Passport 5430 for the first time to boot and
configure the router, you must connect a local terminal (see “Verifying a
Successful Installation” on page 5-10).
