Performing RAID maintenance

Part 5: 702t Server Maintenance and Diagnostics

To replace the Mylex AcceleRAID352 RAID controller card

Ensure that an updated backup tape is made.

Power down the server, and unplug the AC power cord.

Ensure that the antistatic strap is connected properly.

Remove the chassis cover.

Locate the installed RAID card and note its PCI slot.

Disconnect all cabling from the RAID card.

Use an adhesive label or a piece of tape to label each cable with its
connection.

Loosen the screw located at the top of the card’s faceplate.

Remove the card from the chassis.

Unpack the replacement Mylex AcceleRAID352 RAID card.

Insert the replacement card in the appropriate PCI slot (PCI slot 4, which
is the top PCI slot).

Apply downward pressure until the card is evenly and securely seated in
the slot.

Secure the card by tightening the screw at the top of the faceplate.

Connect RAID channel 0 to the RAID card. See “SCSI and IDE cabling
illustrations” on page 126.

Connect RAID channel 1 to the RAID card. See “SCSI and IDE cabling
illustrations” on page 126.

Replace the chassis cover.

Plug in the AC power cord and power up the server. If the server does
not start up, contact your Nortel Networks technical support
representative.
