Flow Control
If CTS flow control is enabled, the scanner determines whether to transmit data based on CTS signal
level. When CTS signal is at high level which means the serial port’s cache memory of receiving device
(such as PC) is full, the scanner stops sending data through serial port until CTS signal is set to low level
by receiving device and discards data 100ms later if receiving device still remains unprepared for
receiving it. In the case of
CTS Flow Control
or
RTS_CTS Flow Control
1
, scanning may resume after
the scanner sends or discards data; in the case of
RTS_CTS Flow Control
2
, scanning may resume only
when CTS signal is at low level after the scanner sends or discards data.
If RTS flow control is enabled, whether the scanner receives data or not is dependent on RTS signal level.
If the scanner is not ready for receiving, it will set RTS signal to high level. When sending device (such as
PC) detects it, it will not send data to the scanner any more to prevent data loss.
If
No Flow Control
is selected, reception/transmission of serial data will not be influenced by RTS/CTS
signal.

Note:
If
RTS_CTS Flow Control
2
is selected, but the serial cable used does not contain RTS/CTS pins or is
faulty, the scanner may stop responding (unable to read barcode or communicate). To troubleshoot this
problem, connect the scanner to a host device with a USB cable and then scan any other flow control option
programming barcode.
