Removing a Password
To remove a password, press
Enter
at “Enter new password” and again at
“Re-enter new password.” Your password clears and you are no longer
prompted to enter one.
You can also use the “Enter new password” and “Re-enter new pass-
word” prompts to change to a new password.
Keyboard Lock
The Keyboard Lock feature is available only after you have enabled a
password.
To enable Keyboard Lock press
Ctrl + Alt + Back Space
. To unlock the
keyboard, enter your password. Please note you are not prompted for this
password. If you remove your password, you can no longer lock the key-
board.
POWERPANEL
Your NEC Versa 6000 system gives you a tool that simplifies changing the
system configuration settings discussed previously in this chapter, including
power management.
Use the VersaGlide to move the cursor over the desired icon, and select the
icon with a touch of the left selection button. The purpose of PowerPanel is
to provide a quick and easy way to change from one setting to the next, as
your location varies. And isn’t that what mobile computing is all about?
The first five icons in the PowerPanel that NEC designed for you let you
toggle between power management settings. The next six icons let you toggle
between system settings. The last icon, represented by the atom, is a perma-
nent icon. Selecting the atom icon opens the PowerPanel menu. Use the
PowerPanel menu to edit or create your own version of PowerPanel, accord-
ing to your own needs.
