Using Setup
SETUP UTILITY
Your NEC Versa 6000 comes with a hardware program called Setup that
allows you to view and set system parameters. Setup also includes security
features that protect your system from unauthorized use.
Use Setup to
■
set the current time and date
■
customize your operating system to reflect your computer hardware
■
secure your system with a password
■
balance your performance needs with power conservation.
How to Enter Setup
Access Setup at power-on. Just press
F2
when the following prompt
appears.
Wait for startup or press <ESC> to view POST or
press <F2> for BIOS SETUP
The Setup Main screen appears, displaying current parameter settings.
When you press
F2
to enter Setup, the system automatically detects current
parameter settings with the Power-On Self-Test (POST).
If the system detects an error during POST, it prompts you with a double
beep and a message: "Press <F1> to resume, <F2> for Setup." If you press
F1
, POST continues. If you want to fix the error, carefully read the error
message that appears above the prompt (taking notes if you want), and
press
F2
.
After you press
F2
, the system displays the Setup Main screen.
