Battery Replacement
A lithium battery in your computer maintains system configuration information. In the event
that the battery fails to maintain system configuration information, NEC recommends that
you replace the battery.
WARNING: There is a danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace
only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Discard used bat-
teries according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Battery Disposal
Your bridge battery (not your main battery) is made of Nickel Metal Hybrid (NiMH). The
bridge battery must be collected, recycled, or disposed of in an environmentally-approved
manner.
Your main battery, made of Lithium Ion (Li-Ion), and your CMOS lithium battery are not
recyclable.
The incineration, landfilling, or mixing of Li-ION and NiMH batteries with the municipal
solid wasted stream is prohibited by law in most areas.
Contact your local waste management officials for other information regarding the environ-
mentally sound collection, recycling, and disposal of the batteries.
