14.7.1 Analyzer
Max-Hold
function
The Analyzer Max-Hold function is mainly made of an array which is updated,
whenever a new spectrum is available, to the maximum value between the previous
and the current one.
14.7.1.1
Analyzer Max-
Hold Activation
This function can be activated at any time by the specific command “
SMHF ON
”.
Similarly, it can be turned off using the complementary command “
SMHF OFF
”.
When the Analyzer Max-hold function is operational, the spectrum sent over the
serial communication shows the maximum value recorded, frequency by frequency,
since the array was last cleared as opposed to the standard way which shows the
most recent one.
The related query command
“?MHF
” is implemented to check whether the Max-Hold
function is active or not.
14.7.1.2
Analyzer Max-
Hold Reset
The array is initialized (cleared) when one of the following events happen:
1. Analyzer mode starts.
2. Any change of setting while in analyzer mode (I.E. a new RB or a different
attenuator).
3. The command “
SMHC
” is issued.
When the array is cleared all previous data is lost and the first spectrum will populate
the array (if not suspended).
14.7.1.3
Analyzer Max-
Hold Pause
(suspend)
The process of updating the array can be temporarily suspended by using the
command
“SMHP ON
” thus hanging the function and freezing its values.
For the whole time span in which the PAUSE is ON, all new spectra will be
discarded and consequently they will not influence the array content.
Whenever the Pause is ON the spectrum, sent over the serial communication,
shows the maximum value recorded up to the moment when the command
“SMHP
ON”
was issued.
To resume the Max-Hold Function the command
“SMHP OFF”
should be sent to the
PMM 9010F.
Note that when issuing the command
“SMHP ON”,
PAUSE is put to OFF thus the
user does not have to concern about the state of it.
The related query command
“?MHP”
is implemented to check whether the Max-
Hold Pause is active or not.
All Max-Hold commands should be issued when the spectrum has been
completely received and before the next SAGO command.
The Max-Hold function is implemented in the 9010F firmware from release 1.45
onwards. Please, update the internal firmware if necessary.
