Using the following steps, the sterile LDP can now be advanced into the APD/RPD Follower and
into the brain until the LDP Locking Interface comes in full contact with the Mating Adapter on
the Follower (see Figure 8.6.31).
CAUTION: Final insertion to PDP should always be done by hand, under full user
control where tactile feedback is important.

• Slowly insert the LDP through the Probe Driver Follower and visually align the LDP thumb
grip to the alignment mark (grey line) on the Mating Adapter (Figure 8.6.31)
• Continue insertion until fully engaged to the Follower Mating Adapter and locked in
position; an audible click will be heard
WARNING: To prevent inadvertent unlocking or slipping of the LDP Depth Stop
during insertion, hold the LDP at the bottom-most portion of the Locking Interface
while inserting into the brain as shown in Figure 8.6.32 to prevent potential injury.
