The DeTeWe DECT-IP, OPS27 wireless phones can be registered as resilient phones. The
OPS27 phones register with the ICP as Mitel 5220 IP Phones and the Resiliency Guidelines
for MiVoice IP Phones are also applicable to these DECT-IP phones.
When planning a resilient DECT wireless network, you must consider that OPS27 phones
require the following components and services:
•
Mitel 3300 ICP
: system platforms
•
Radio Fixed Parts (RFPs)
: base stations for wireless phones
•
Portable Parts (PP)
: OP26 and OP27 wireless phones
•
Open Mobility Manager (OMM)
: IP management interface for implementing the IP-DECT
Wireless Solution
•
DHCP Server
: this can be the 3300 ICP internal server
•
TFTP Server
: this can be integral to the 3300 ICP, this server is used by the RFPs.
DECT WIRELESS PHONES FOR DEPLOYMENT IN EUROPE AND NORTH
AMERICA
The Mitel IP-DECT (Global) SIP-based Wireless System can be deployed internationally; the
system delivers a core set of telephony features based on SIP integration with the 3300 ICP.
The Mitel IP-DECT System (Global) is available globally for deployment where operation of
devices in compliance with the European DECT or the North American DECT standards are
permitted.
The system is comprised of the following components:
•
5602, 5603, 5604, and 5606 Wireless handsets
•
IP-DECT Base Stations (IPBS)
•
Handset chargers
•
Handset programming tools
•
Wireless Messaging Gateway (WSM)
WIRELESS LAN CONSIDERATIONS
An IEEE 802.11b wireless LAN, like a regular LAN, can provide connectivity to both voice and
data users. Voice and data devices have different requirements for QoS and, as a result, place
different demands on the LAN infrastructure.This is true of both wired and wireless LANs.
For wired LANs, these different requirements for voice and data are well understood and are
covered elsewhere in this document (refer to “General Guidelines for Quality of Service” on
page 203) and must be taken into consideration when designing a wired or wireless LAN.
Note:
The IP-DECT Phones do not obtain their application software from the TFTP
server. Application software for these Phones is downloaded from a PC via a USB
interface. For details see the IP-DECT Wireless Solution Technical Manual.
