Electrical System
Fuses
The fuse box is located in the
engine com partm ent.
A summ ary of the protected
equipm ent is printed in the fuse
box cover.
Fuse arrangem ent in the box —
starting at engine side, proceeding
from inside to outside —
upper row: odd numbers
1, 3, 5 etc. up to 13;
lower row : even numbers
2, 4, 6 etc. up to 14.
Fuses m ust be replaced, n o t re
paired or bridged.
Spare fuses are stored in the fuse
box (observe amperage and color
code).
Determ ine the cause o f a short
prior to replacing a burned-out
fuse.
A fte r replacing a fuse, screw on
the fuse box cover firm ly.
B attery
Check the flu id level in the cells
from outside approxim ately every
4 weeks, and more often in
sum m er and in hot zones.
The fluid level m ust be between
the low er and the upper markings.
Only replenish w ith distilled w ater.
Do not use metal funnels and do
not perforate the diaphragm o f the
battery overfill protection.
The battery is filled to the m axi
mum level w hen the w ater level in
the cell fillin g cham ber stops going
dow n.
If b attery acid is to be extracted
fo r b attery diagnosis purposes,
perforate the diaphragm w ith the
hydrom eter or the tube attached
to it.
Coat battery term inal clamps w ith
acid pro of grease. Keep battery
clean and dry.
Only to w vehicle w ith the battery
connected.
Only charge battery w ith the rapid
charger w hen it is disconnected
fro m the vehicle circuit.
Note:
W hile the engine is running the
battery term inal clam ps m ust not
be loosened or detached as o the r
wise the alternator and other
electronic units w ou ld be
damaged.
