Do not store any objects in the
driver's fo otw e ll area because they
could become lodged under the
operator's pedals thus rendering
these controls partially or totally
inoperative.
Test the service brake shortly after
driving off.
W arm up the engine sm oothly.
Do not place fu ll load on the
engine until the operating tem per
ature has been reached.
M an u al Transm ission
See figure fo r gearshift lever posi
tions corresponding to the ind ivid
ual gears.
Engage reverse gear only w ith the
vehicle at standstill; pull up gear
sh ift lever and engage reverse gear
shortly after declutching.
Do not exceed the m axim um speed
in the individual gears. See line
markings on the speedometer.
Note:
W hen parking the vehicle, engage

st or reverse gear and depress
parking brake pedal.

The autom atic transm ission fa c ili
tates and sim plifies the handling of
the vehicle. The individual gears
are shifted autom atically depen
dent upon selector lever position,
vehicle speed and accelerator
position.

W hen parking the vehicle or if
w orking on the vehicle w ith the
engine running, depress parking
brake pedal and m ove selector
lever to position "P ".
