A utom atic Antenna
The antenna sw itch can be a ctu
ated w ith the radio sw itched on
and the key in steering lock posi
tions " 1" or " 2 ".
• If the antenna sw itch is in
center position, the antenna ex
tends autom atically to a speci
fic height,
• if the antenna sw itch is
engaged in the "m a x" position,
the antenna extends fully,
• if the antenna sw itch is
engaged in the " o ff" position,
the antenna w ill not extend or
w ill retract com pletely.
The height o f the antenna can
furtherm ore be adjusted c o n tin
uously by actuating the antenna
sw itch:
• If the antenna sw itch is in
center position, the antenna w ill
extend to the specific height.
The antenna can be fu rth e r ex
tended or retracted to any
height by rocking the sw itch
(not engaging it).
• If the antenna is to be re
tracted, e. g. fo r playing cas
settes, engage sw itch in "o ff"
position.
W hen the key is turned to steering
lock position " 0 " or the radio is
turned o ff, the antenna w ill retract
com pletely.
FM Reception
FM signals travel in a "line-of-
sigh t". Reflections or "dead spots"
may cause cancellations or loss o f
the signal as w ell as strong signal
overloading or capture.
Low ering the antenna height in
strong signal areas may eliminate
many o f the resulting problem s and
restore good tone quality. H ow
ever, fringe area reception requires
the fu ll antenna length to capture
weak incom ing signals. The an
tenna can be operated by depress
ing the respective side o f the
rocker sw itch.
FM Stereo Reception
W hen turned to a FM stereo station,
the red Stereo Indicator Lamp w ill
light up. Because more inform ation
is carried in the FM stereo signal
than in FM m onoraul broadcasts,
flu tte r, cancellation and capture e f
fects may be even more noticeable.
The noisefree broadcast range,
therefore, is som ew hat less and
accurate tu nin g to the strongest
available stereo stations is required,
especially fo r fringe area reception.
