SPEECH RECOGNITION SYSTEM (Models with NAVI)
About the Speech Recognition System
The speech recognition system (an input microphone and button) allows you to
operate some functions of the unit by speech commands. This also allows you to use
the functions usually unavailable to operate while driving.
• The speech recognition system cannot recognize improper speech commands.
• The following information may help the correct recognition:
− Say the voice command after the beep sound.
− Speak the command in a loud and clear voice.
− When several people are speaking at the same time, voice commands cannot be
recognized.
− Keep all windows closed while using the system. Noise, such as wind or other
background noise, may interfere with correct recognitions. It may also occur if the
air conditioner fans are too loud.
− The system does not support regional variations or alternative phrases. Make
sure you speak the specified phrases.
• The speech recognition mode is turned off under the following conditions:
− Any speech command is recognized within 5 seconds after the speech guidance,
talk back or help guidance has finished. (When you touch the screen, counting
five seconds restarts.)
− A handsfree call is received.
− A disc is inserted or ejected.
− Speech recognition failed 3 times.
NOTE
• When the speech recognition system is started, the current audio output will be
muted or paused.
