Shows
A show is a group of up to 99 snapshots that also contains additional information including
snapshot order and recall safes. For example, a touring band’s engineers (FOH and monitors)
could create and save shows from the set list. A theater might create and save shows for each play.
These are just two of a wide variety of examples in which shows are useful.
Shows are stored
and recalled from the console, but are accessed via the Master Fader app.
At all times, there is a single show loaded on the DL1608. This is called the current show.
The snapshot list (described on page 82) displays all snapshots of the current show.
The iPad can store multiple shows – limited only by the available space on your iPad – and allows you
to load them into the DL1608 as the current show. These additional shows are displayed as a grid
of icons with a number and name for each show and are stored locally on the iPad.
At the beginning of the show list is a button labeled “Default”. This is the factory default show.
It’s an easy way to create new shows, as this is a blank slate to start from. It is always listed fi rst,
cannot be replaced, renamed or deleted. Tap this button to release a popover as seen in the
image to the left. Load will load the factory default show into the DL1608.
At the end of the show list is a button labeled “New”. Tapping this button reveals a keyboard.
Simply type in a name you would like to call this show. This will store the current show on the
console into a new show on the iPad and add another “New” button to the end of the show list.
Touching a show button (other than”Default” or “New”) will display a popover with the following
options:
Load
— Loads the show and the snapshots contained in the show onto the console. It also updates
recall safes to those stored on the show. When loading, the entire snapshot / show screen will gray out
so no changes may take place while a show is loading. Load time is all dependent on the number of
stored snapshots on the show. The current state of the console is not changed on a show load and audio
still passes and you can still adjust all mix controls. A confi rmation dialog will appear.
Loading a show will replace the current show on the DL1608 with the new show. If you
ever need to load the current show again, be sure to back it up fi rst by using the “New”
button to make a new show.
When loading a show, all other iPads will automatically disconnect and you will need to
reconnect them via devices after the show fi nishes loading. This prevents any iPad from
getting out of sync or making changes to the new show before it fi nishes loading.
Wait until the show completely loads before making any adjustments or loading
other snapshots, shows, or presets from the remaining iPads.
