5.2.4
Flare-Type Hydraulic Fittings
1. Check
fl
are (A) and
fl
are seat (B) for defects that might
cause leakage.
2. Align tube (C) with
fi
tting (D) and thread nut (E) onto
fi
tting without lubrication until contact has been made
between the
fl
ared surfaces.
3. Torque the
fi
tting nut (E) to the speci
fi
ed number of
fl
ats from
fi
nger tight (FFFT) or to a given torque value
shown in the following table.
4. To prevent the
fi
tting (D) from rotating, use two
wrenches. Place one wrench on the
fi
tting body (D)
and tighten the nut (E) with the other wrench to the
torque shown.
5. Assess the
fi
nal condition of the connection.
