After milking a cow whose milk has been separated, the milking system
is always rinsed. If a hotfill is installed the rinsing water has a
temperature of 40 °C (104 °F). This keeps the milk lines free from
colostrum or penicillin residues.
After cleaning operations, the milking robot automatically opens the
entry gate so milking can continue.
The different types of cleaning are:
•
Milking robot cleaning:
•
Local rinse (clean and disinfect brushes, for instance after every
10th cow or after every separation, or after x time no milking)
•
Lely wash (clean milking cups, after every cow)
•
Local rinse with robot milk line (clean milk carrying parts of
robot, manual setting)
•
Milk tank cleaning (after emptying milk tank).
•
Main cleaning (milking system, 3 times per day). The stages are:
•
Preparation (without milk line)
•
Pre rinse (cold water, no agents, 90 s)
•
Main rinse (hot water, with agents, 6 min)
•
Post rinse (cold water, 120 s).
•
Pura:
•
To kill bacteria with steam (no detergents used)
•
Steam cleaning of the milk cups between two milkings, always
followed by Lelywash to cool down
•
Steam is pressurized, system has water filter to demineralise
water
•
Controlled with settings in T4C software.
