Temperature
When the temperature drops below the switch temperature, the
processor or the sampler switches on the heater element(s). When the
temperature goes above the switch temperature, the processor or the
sampler switches off the heater element(s).
The switch temperature is for the processor is 5°C (41°F) and for the
sampler 4°C (39.2°F).
To prevent an overload of the system, only one heater element is
switched on at the time. A heater element is switched on for a maximum
of 30 seconds.
When the MQC-C is in idle state and the temperature sensor in the
processor box detects a temperature below the switch point, it opens all
bleed valves. This way the bleed valves produces warmth that heat the
processor box. The bleed valves are opened as long as the MQC-C is idle
and/or the temperature is below the switch point.
When the temperature in the processor box is below -1°C at any time
within the last hour or above 45°C, it stops. If the temperature is above
1°C for the entire last hour or is below 45°C the processor restarts.

The Test
The test has four main stages:
•
Take a sample of the milk of all available quarters
•
Mix the Astri-Cell with the milk
•
Measure the mixture
•
Drain the mixture.
The first stage, the sampling of the milk, is a process done
simultaneously for all available quarters. The other stages are completed
in succession for each quarter.
The Sampling
The milk flow of each available quarter is monitored by the sampler. As
soon as the sampler detects the milk flow, a small amount of milk is
pumped away and fills the milk tube between the sampler and the
processor.
Mix the Astri-Cell with the Milk
When all milk tubes (between the sampler and the processor) are filled,
the processor starts to pump 3.2 ml of milk of one of the quarters from
the milk tube into the first chamber. After that the processor pumps 4.5
ml of Astri-Cell into the chamber. The milk and the Astri-Cell mix and
when the mixture is ready it flows to the second chamber.
Test the Mixture
When all mixture is in the second chamber, the processor lets the
mixture flow to the third chamber. Level sensors in the second chamber
measure how long it takes to let the mixture flow to the third chamber.
