4. DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
4.1 Introduction
This chapter describes the parts of the ASTRONAUT A3 Next milking
robot. This chapter also explains how the parts of the ASTRONAUT A3
Next milking system operate together to milk a cow.
The information in this chapter is for operators of the ASTRONAUT A3
Next milking system. Refer to the Corrective Maintenance Manual for a
complete description of the ASTRONAUT A3 Next milking system.
4.2 Component Description
The ASTRONAUT A3 Next has the following systems:
•
Covers and doors
•
Box
•
Feedings system
•
Robot arm system
•
Milking system
•
Milk transport system
•
Cleaning system
•
Control system
•
Support systems.
Each system has components that are important for the operator to
operate or maintain the ASTRONAUT
A3 Next .
4.2.1 Box
The box is the area of the milking robot where the cow stands during
milking. It has an entrance gate and an exit gate (3) that hold, release or
permit entrance for the cow. It also has a weigh floor and the feeding
system (both not described here). The robot arm is installed on the right
(RH model) or the left (LH model) of the box. The entrance and exit
gates are installed on the left (RH model) or the right (LH model) of the
box.
To expel the cows from the box a movement inductor (1) is installed.
The box has the following parts:

The box frame
•
The gates (with side gates)
•
The movement inductor
•
The segregation gate (optional)
•
The Jersey Set (optional).
The side gates makes sure cows do not walk through or stay in the
operational area of the gates. The side gates are installed on the
entrance and exit gates.
