Each version of the K-Mix Editor is compatible with a specific version of K-Mix firmware. Occasionally, new
features in a K-Mix Editor update will require a firmware update to your K-Mix before the two can properly
function together.
There are two ways a firmware update can be initiated via the K-Mix Editor — automatically, or manually.

The automatic firmware update process will be the most common method of getting new firmware onto
your K-Mix. The process is as follows:
1.
Upon opening the editor and connecting a K-Mix, the K-Mix Editor checks to see if the connected
K-Mix’s firmware is compatible.
2.
If the firmware is compatible with the editor, nothing else is required and the main editor window is
displayed. If the firmware is
not
compatible with the editor, it will prompt you to update your K-Mix’s
firmware. Click the “UPDATE” button to continue with the firmware update process. Click “CANCEL” to
cancel the firmware update.
3.
A progress bar appears showing how far the editor is into the firmware update process. It may take
a few seconds for the progress bar to begin moving — this is to be expected while the update is
initializing.
4.
Once the firmware has been transferred to the connected K-Mix, it will automatically restart.
5.
After the K-Mix has powered back on the editor will open to the main window as normal.

In addition to the automatic firmware update process, you can also manually initiate a firmware update. It is
unlikely this feature will ever be needed, but in the rare event that it is needed, it will be there waiting.
The manual firmware update is initiated via the
Force Firmware Update
option in the K-Mix Editor’s
Hardware
menu. Please see section
5.4.4.1 – Force Firmware Update
for more information.
If the firmware on your K-Mix is not compatible with the K-Mix Editor currently in use,
you will need to update the firmware before you can use the editor. The main editor
interface will not display until a K-Mix with compatible firmware is connected.
