The nickel-hydride batteries can be recharged with a dedicated charger. When using the
nickel-hydride batteries, make sure to observe the following precautions.
•
Wipe any dirt off the
and
poles of the batteries, or the batteries cannot be properly
charged. Use a soft dry cloth and wipe the poles carefully.
•
Nickel-hydride batteries may not be fully charged after purchase or long period of
unused. This is one of the characteristics of nickel-hydride batteries, not a trouble or
failure. The batteries will be fully charged by charging them several times.
•
Try to recharge the batteries after they have run down. Repeatedly recharging the
batteries before they run down may cause them to hold less charge. (This is called
"memory effect".)
•
If the memory effect described above occurs, use up the batteries (until printing becomes
impossible), and then fully recharge them several times. Normal capacity will be restored.
•
The nickel-hydride batteries may discharge while they are not used.
•
Make sure to follow the written instructions supplied with your battery charger and the
batteries.
•
The nickel-hydride batteries can be recharged but not be used permanently. They will
deteriorate with time and heavy use. If the batteries have been running out fast, replace
them with new ones.
•
The battery life varies depending on the usage and ambient environment.
•
Do not dispose of used nickel-hydride batteries. Please cooperate on recycling the used
rechargeable batteries.
•
Printing on the wide tape will temporarily cause the device to consume a large amount of
current, and can cause the device to display "Change Batteries" even if new batteries are
installed. This is normal operation for the device.
•
Print speed becomes slower when the batteries are running low, then "Change
Batteries" appears on the display. Replace all the alkaline batteries with new ones or
recharge the nickel-hydride batteries fully, or connect the AC adapter immediately.
Otherwise the K-Sun
®
GREEN MACHINE
®
may turn off in the middle of the operation
or during printing.
•
New AA alkaline batteries or nickel-hydride rechargeable batteries (The SANYO eneloop

will supply enough power for the device to print on one
tape
cartridge (0.7" x 26') at room temperatures. However, when you operate the device in
cold places or print on wide tapes, the life span of the batteries becomes shorter. You are
recommended to use the bundled AC adapter as much as possible. Do not use an AC
adapter other than the bundled one.
•
Make sure to turn off the power after use.
•
Turning off the display backlight helps to save battery life.
See
"Backlight" (p.

).
•
If your K-Sun
®
GREEN MACHINE

is not to be used for long periods, remove the
batteries from the device to avoid possible leakage.
•
Dispose of the used batteries according to your local regulations.
