Dipper and Boom
Removal and Replacement
Note:
When preparing to carry out the following tasks, the
carrier machine can be disconnected once the backhoe has
been positioned. Refer to the attachment
Operator
Handbook
for the correct procedures.
Dipper
1
Raise the dipper fully. Lower the boom onto blocks so
that the bucket is just clear of the ground. Lower the
dipper until the bucket rests on the ground.

Switch off the engine and operate the backhoe controls
to relieve system pressure.

Clean round the hydraulic fittings and then disconnect
the hoses from the bucket ram pipework. Cap the pipes
and hoses to prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture.

Remove the two lynch pins

followed by pivot pins

and
C
in turn to disconnect the bucket. Move the bucket
clear.

Restart the engine and lower the dipper to the ground.
Repeat step
2

If necessary remove the bucket ram as described in
Rams, Removal and Replacement
.

Support the weight of the top end of the dipper ram with
suitable lifting equipment. Remove roll pin

and then
pivot pin

. Lower the top end of the dipper ram so that
it rests on the boom and then disconnect the lifting
equipment.

Using suitable lifting equipment, support the weight of
the dipper at its boom end. Loosen lock nuts

and then
back off studs

from swivel pin

. Remove the pivot
pin.

Lift the dipper clear of the boom.

Replacement is the reverse of removal.
Note:
When refitting pivot 00 pin

, make sure the
indentations align with studs

Boom

Remove the bucket and dipper as described above.

Clean round the hydraulic fittings and then disconnect
the hoses from the dipper ram pipework. Cap the pipes
and hoses to prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture.

Support the dipper ram with suitable lifting equipment.
Remove roll pin

. Lift the ram
clear.

the hoses from the boom ram pipework. Cap the pipes
and hoses to prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture.

Support the boom ram with suitable lifting equipment.

turn. Lift the ram clear.

Clean round the hydaulic fittings and then disconnect
from the boom pipework the bucket and dipper hoses
emanating from the backhoe mainframe. Cap the pipes
and hoses to prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture.

Support the boom with suitable lifting equipment.
Loosen lock nuts

and back off studs

. Remove the pivot pin.

Lift the boom clear of the kingpost.

Replacement is the reverse of removal.
