Caution
If the four wheel drive fails to engage
or disengage, stop the tractor by press-
ing the clutch pedal down, then operate
the control rod as required.
Caution
DO NOT operate the tractor in four
wheel drive while on the road, as this
will lead to:
1. Premature front tyre wear.
2. Excessive fuel consumption.
Differential lock
If a rear wheel starts to slip:
Footstep tractors - two and four
wheel drive. Cab tractors - two
wheel drive
1. Engage the differential lock, press the
pedal down, the pedal will automati-
cally latch in the engaged position.
2. To disengage the differential lock,
press down on the pedal then lift the
foot. This action will release the latch
and allow the pedal to return to the
disengaged position. It also engages
4. Select the required speed, 1st, 2nd, 3rd
or 4th. The tractor will travel at the
same approximate speed in both for-
ward and reverse.
5. Press down the clutch pedal and select
either forward or reverse, release the
pedal and the tractor will move.
Advice on driving
The tractor is driven in the normal
way; selection can be made on the move
of any of the speeds from 1st to 4th.
Caution
All changes should be made in se-
quence, do not jump from a high speed
in one range to a low speed in another
range otherwise damage could occur to
the transmission.
e.g. Do not change on the move from 4th
high to 1st medium, work your way through
the gears (4th high to 3rd high, to 2nd. to
1st. Change range, 4th medium. to 3rd, to
2nd and then to 1st), alternatively, stop the
tractor to change gear.
Changes of range from high to medium
or medium to high can be made on the
move. The clutch pedal must be depressed
for all changes of gear. Changes into the
low range should be made with the tractor
stationary.
When neutral is required use the for-
ward/reverse lever, it is equipped with a
heavy duty synchromesh unit.
It is not necessary to select neutral (N)
in the range section of the gearbox when
leaving the tractor, it can be left in any
of the three ranges. it will be found that
medium range will provide an adequate
range of work speeds, only for low speed
operations will it he found necessary to
use low range.
e.g. Rotovating, planting etc. which re-
quires a very low speed.
Four wheel drive operation
Footstep and cab tractors

down and push the control rod down. To

Note

drive fails to disengage, reverse the trac-
