Four wheel drive operation
Footstep and cab tractors
To engage, press the clutch pedal
down and push the control rod down. To
disengage, press the clutch down and pull
the control rod up.
Note
When stationary if the four wheel
drive fails to disengage, reverse the trac-
tor slightly then pull the control rod up.
Caution
If the four wheel drive fails to engage
or disengage, stop the tractor by press-
ing the clutch pedal down, then operate
the control rod as required.
Caution
DO NOT operate the tractor in four
wheel drive while on the road, as this
will lead to:
1. Premature front tyre wear.
2. Excessive fuel consumption.
Differential lock (Rear axle)
If a rear wheel starts to slip:
1. Engage the differential lock, press the
pedal down, the pedal will automati-
cally latch in the engaged position.
2. To disengage the differential lock,
press down on the pedal then lift the
foot. This action will release the latch
and allow the pedal to return to the
disengaged position. It also engages
the front four wheel drive axle differ-
ential lock when fitted.
Caution
Do not attempt to engage the differ-
ential lock with one wheel stopped and
the other wheel spinning fast. Declutch
before engaging the differential lock. Do
not attempt to turn with the differential
lock engaged.
Note
If the differential lock fails to disen-
gage, steer SLIGHTLY to either left or
right, or lightly engage the independent
brake.
Autolock differential (Front
axle of 4WD tractors).
The Autolock differential is completely
automatic in operation, keeping the half-
shafts locked together when driving in a
straight line and disengaging the outside
wheel when the tractor is steered to the
right or left. On returning to a straight
course, the Autolock automatically re-
engages.
Note
The Autolock is usually silent in oper-
ation, but can occasionally emit a metal-
lic `click’ as re-engagement takes place.
Brakes
Always latch the brake pedals to-
gether before driving on the road.
* When the tractor is being operat-
ed for stationary work, even if for
short periods, always engage the
parking brake.
* The independent brakes may be used
to assist turning when travelling
very slowly. Never apply one brake
when travelling at speed.
