Chapter 13 Troubleshooting
Description:
The printer does not work, although the printhead is lowered.
Error condition 1022 “Head lifted” is indicated at any attempt
of printing a label.
Possible Causes and Suggested Remedies:
• Headlift sensor blocked.
- Check the sensor (components D7 and Q3) at the front of the
CPU board for dust or foreign objects.
• Faulty sensor.
- Replace CPU board.
Description:
The error condition 1027 "Out of transfer ribbon" is not
reported even though the printer positively is out of ribbon or
it becomes impossible to print with the printer being set up for
direct thermal printing regardless if the transfer ribbon is
removed (error 1058 “Transfer ribbon fitted”).
Possible Causes and Suggested Remedies:
• Printer is not set up for thermal transfer printing.
- Check the Media/Paper Type setup, e.g. by printing a test label.
• Ribbon/Media Sensor malfunction.
- Check the sensor for paper dust or foreign objects.
- Check that the sensor's cable is undamaged and properly
connected to J7 on the CPU board.
- Replace the sensor.
Description:
The label-taken sensor (LTS) is not working properly.
Possible Causes and Suggested Remedies:
• Sensor not enabled
- The LTS must either be enabled by means of an LTS& ON
statement.
• Bad connection.
- Check that the cable is connected to J4 on the CPU board and
undamaged.
• Dirty sensor.
- Make sure that the active parts of the sensor are not obstructed
by dust or foreign objects.
• Front cover not closed?
- Make sure that the front cover is properly closed so the light
guides become aligned with the sensor.
• Light guides broken or dirty.
- Make sure that the light guides on the inside of the front cover
are not broken or damaged and that their end surfaces are
clean.
