Chapter 13
13. Troubleshooting
13.1 Diagnosing the
Printer
To diagnose the printer for faults, take steps in the following order:
1. Print a Test Label to see if the printer works at all, to check the
printout quality, to adjust the paper feed, and to get a printout of
the printer's setup.
2. Browse through the remainder of this chapter to find the
symptoms that apply to the faulty printer.
3. Refer to the Printer Technical Bulletins for updated information.
Printing a Test Label
• Turn off the power.
• Lift the printhead.
• Press down the Feed key and keep pressing it.
• Turn on the power.
• The printer will start the initialization procedure.
• When the LED control lamp flashes green, release the Feed key.
• The printer carries out a TESTFEED operation, i.e. adjusts the
media sensor for the characteristics and copy length of the
presently loaded paper.
• The printhead resistance is measured and stored in memory.
• After a short delay, a test label is printed and the printer enters
the Dump Mode (firware version 2.00 or later).
