LifeCare PCA
5.6.2
TEST
SETUP
To set up the infuser for the PVT, proceed as follows:
1. Using the pole clamp assembly, secure the infuser to an IV pole.
Note:
When the security door is locked, the infuser locks to the pole clamp and
prevents its removal without a key.
2. Plug the AC power cord into a grounded, hospital-grade, 120 V
AC,
50 - 60 Hz
receptacle.
3. Connect the appropriate LifeCare PCA set to a 30 mL LifeCare PCA vial/injector.
4. Prime the vial and administration set. Hold the vial vertically with
the administration set extending from the top. Slowly push down on the injector
until all air is cleared from the vial and administration set.
5.6.3
STUCK
INJECTOR
SWITCH
PIN
TEST
Accumulation of spilled fluid can retard or stop the spring action at the back of the injector
switch pin, causing the pin to become stuck.
To test the infuser for a stuck injector switch pin condition, proceed as follows:
1. Verify the AC plug indicator on the front panel is lit
.
Note:
When the AC plug indicator is off and the battery indicator is flashing, it is
an indication that the infuser is operating on low battery power and should
be recharged.
2. Unlock and open the security door.
3. Move the upper vial cradle assembly to its uppermost position using the cradle
release mechanism.
4. Press
[ON/OFF]
to turn on the power. The infuser performs a self test verifying the
integrity of the software, memory, and selected electronic functions.
5. When the
SELF TEST COMPLETE
message displays, press
[CONTINUE]
.
Note:
If the infuser is running 7.02 software or higher, the Software Version screen
will display instead of the Self Test Complete screen after the self test
passes. The infuser will automatically transition from the Software Version
screen to the next screen after 5 seconds.
Note:
If the
NEW PATIENT?
message displays, press
[YES]
. The
HISTORY AND RX
SETTINGS CLEARED
message displays briefly.
6. When the
CHECK SYRINGE
message displays, place the vial and injector assembly
into the infuser's vial cradle clips, but
do not
snap the injector flange into the
injector flange retainer. See
for an example of correct vial/injector
positioning for this test.
WARNING: A PATIENT SHOULD NEVER BE CONNECTED TO THE INFUSER DURING
DEVICE TESTING.
CAUTION:
Ensure all caps on the vial and the administration set
are removed and all clamps are open when priming.
