If
the
firmware
encounters
an
error
during
the
startup
process,
a
message
describing
the
error
together
with
an
error
code
is
displayed
on
the
serial
console.
There
are
two
types
of
error,
where
xxx
represents
the
number
of
the
error
code:
Cxxx
This
is
an
internal
checkpoint.
If
the
system
stops
during
the
startup
process
a
checkpoint
may
be
displayed.
Exxx
This
type
of
error
means
that
there
is
a
failure
that
does
not
allow
the
firmware
to
continue
the
startup
process.
Check
the
error
codes
in
the
section
“Boot
errors
and
handling”
on
page
77.
If
these
do
not
help
resolve
the
problem,
contact
a
service
support
representative.
There
are
cases
where
a
message
that
is
informational
only
is
displayed
on
the
serial
console.
Wxxx
This
is
a
warning
message.
The
firmware
allows
the
startup
process
to
continue,
but
indicates
there
maybe
a
problem.
A
warning
message
can
be
combined
with
an
error
message
to
give
more
complete
information
about
an
error.
A
complete
list
of
possible
messages
is
given
in
the
section
“Boot
errors
and
handling”
on
page
77.
Checkpoints
Checkpoints
show
the
progress
of
the
boot.
Each
checkpoint
is
overwritten
by
the
next
as
the
boot
process
continues.
If
the
boot
process
stops
for
any
reason,
a
checkpoint
may
be
displayed.
Take
note
of
the
checkpoint
code
and
any
message,
then
attempt
to
reboot
the
blade
server.
If
the
problem
persists,
contact
your
IBM
service
representative
with
details
of
the
checkpoint
and
any
message
associated
with
it.
